In her review of the new Opel Corsa, Heléne Griffiths describes it as so different from the previous model, almost a baby Astra... and she loved the two door Sport derivative!

Born to be loved (by me)!
There are two distinctly different models - a coupé-like three-door and a family-friendly five-door - each specifically tailored to meet the needs of different customer profiles in the small car sector.
The 1.4 Sport is featured as an individual model and customers can also choose from a five-model range of five-door variants. This choice encompasses 3 different specification levels, 1.4-litre petrol or 1.3 CDTI diesel engines and the option of manual or automatic transmission.
Loved the three-door's sporty stance
It is the three-door Sport’s coupé-like roof line, pronounced fenders over the rear wheels and the 17 inch alloy wheels that really give this small car a great sporty stance. Believe it or not here is another littlely car with a cute bum! I am positive the Corsa 1.4 Sport will attract lifestyle buyers, including the fairer sex, in their droves.
The family oriented Corsa five-door model offers a longer roof line and more generous side window surfaces to provide more head room and greater visibility for the rear passengers.
Interior styling features high quality materials and clever new features. On the Essentia and Enjoy specification levels, the interior decor is keyed to Satin Stone finish on the centre console, while the Corsa 1.4 Sport is keyed to a Matt Chrome finish.
On the 1.4 Cosmo the centre console treatment is a glossy ‘piano’ black. Numerous storage compartments are provided to cater for both large and small items.
A world first feature
The best feature, in my opinion, is the ‘Flex-Fix’ integrated bicycle carrier - the first of its type in the world. This option (only available on the 1.4 Enjoy manual) is integrated into the vehicle, under the luggage compartment, and is accessed through an aperture behind the rear number plate. The Flex-Fix system offers a folding carrier for two bicycles and the low height makes it easy to load the bicycles. When not in use, it is totally concealed!
When reverse gear is selected with the Flex-Fix system extended, an acoustic signal warns the driver of the extended length of the car.
Impressive standard features
The new Corsa range also has an impressive list of standard features that include ABS brakes with EBD and BAS, Straight Line Stability control, Cornering Brake Control, Electro-hydraulic power steering, tilt and reach adjustment for the steering column, dual airbags, height adjustable driver’s seat, air-conditioner, speed sensitive automatic door locking and a radio/single CD player!
I thoroughly enjoyed the driving evaluation and found the handling and roadholding to be superb - in actual fact brilliant. - All I can say, once you’ve driven this baby you will under- stand why I say ‘Born to be loved’!
The recommended retail prices for the new Corsa range is from R124 910 to R147 580 and this includes a 3-year/100 000km warranty and a 3-year/60 000km Service Plan.
