The new Golf has been designed to be quieter, sportier, fuel efficient, clean burning and distinctive. It also gives the appearance of a significantly wider, low-profile and higher end car.
Standard equipment on the new Golf includes two front airbags, two side airbags and two head airbags. It also has a knee airbag system on the driver’s side - another first for the Golf.

The instrument panel has been completely redesigned. Prominent here are the two round instruments with brushed chrome bezels in the base equipment version; the tachometer is on the left and the speedometer on the right. The graphics of the multi-functional display - arranged between the tachometer and speedo-meter are white. All essential instrument controls on the centre console are within easy reach.
