They say you can tell much about a person from their choice of footwear, but the latest study in the UK by Kwif-Fit shows you can tell just as much about your personality from your choice of car tyres!
Nearly two thirds (64%) of motorists who describe themselves as 'cautious' take absolutely no risks in their tyre choice, opting for a tyre based solely on its safety qualities - this could put a brand like Goodyear to the front of their thoughts.
Most 'image conscious' motorists (62%) are looking to court admiration for their treads as well as their threads. For them it's all about the brand and they might choose tyres from heavyweight names such as Continental or Pirelli.
A further 72% of motorists describing themselves as 'thrill seekers' base their car tyre choice on road handling ability, and study the form of high performance tyres before buying. The motorsport reputation of Bridgestone and Dunlop might attract these people.
Most motorists that consider themselves 'thrifty' (59%) prefer to choose non-branded tyres and base their decision on the cheapest quote they can get. For premium tyre buyers the durability of Michelin tyres would be very attractive here.
"Brand, cost, and performance aside, the number one priority for motorists should always be to make sure their tyres are in good condition. Motorists should ensure that their tyres have sufficient tread depth and are inflated to the correct levels, especially as we head into the highveld summer rains when road conditions are tricky."
If you are unsure about tyre inflation or tread, pop into your local Kwik-Fit centre where you will receive a free check to help keep you safe on the road.

Finding the right tyre
David White, Customer Services Director, Kwik-Fit, comments: "The research makes for fascinating reading and it would appear that you really can judge many motorists by the car tyres they choose. A vital part of our role as the largest retailer of car tyres is to help customers find the right tyre for their needs."Brand, cost, and performance aside, the number one priority for motorists should always be to make sure their tyres are in good condition. Great post, I believe tyres play a very inportant role in your safety.
I check my tyres on a regular basis, and I would rather over inflate my tyres than drive with tyres that are not properly inflated.
